Jerry Kyle has over three decades of experience with historical and cultural resources research, establishing and organizing of archival collections and manuscript repositories, creating and directing interpretive projects, and performing educational programming and workshop facilitation.

July, 2007 – present – Skylark Consulting, LLC

Partner in consulting firm specializing in historic preservation and cultural resource management. Skylark has worked on National Register nominations in Scottsdale and Tucson, completed an exhibit at the Walsh Courthouse, is initiating work on an exhibit for the City of Tucson, completed photograph and records preservation for the Town of Oro Valley, and obtained a contract with the National Park Service, Alaska Regional Office, to process archival records.

Museum / Archives consultant

Estrada-Weber specializes in history, museum interpretation, history exhibit development, historic preservation, museum or historic district planning, educational programming, and other museum services. Jerry served as a consultant and performed historical research and writing, interpretive planning, archival appraisal and processing, marketing and public relations, and project management.

March, 2003 – October, 2008 – United States National Park Service

Project archivist / Assistant Curator

This project-based work involved appraising, processing, and creating descriptive finding aids for archival collections through the auspices of a Cooperative Agreement with National History Day in Alaska. It began in 2003 with work funded by a Saving America’s Treasures Grant designed to preserve the records of the Kennecott Copper Corporation during its mining operations in Alaska. Work completed since that date included:

  • The records of the Shared Beringia Heritage Program, the Minerals Management Collection and work on various other collections related to mining operations.

  • Vegetation studies and other collections maintained by the Cultural Resources section of the Alaska Regional Support Office (ARCC) in Anchorage.

  • Assisted with archival collections maintained at Kenai Fjords National Park, Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve, Crater Lake National Park, Oregon Caves National Monument, and Lava Beds National Monument.

The curatorial component of the work included registration, research assistance, cataloging, inventory, the preparation of Housekeeping Plans for ARCC and Kenai Fjords National Park, and other support provided to ARCC’s Senior Curator.

April, 2002 – November, 2002 – University of Arizona Health Sciences Library

Project archivist

Researched, planned and processed an archival collection accessioned into the Special Collections of the University of Arizona’s Medical Center’s Arizona Health Sciences Library. The majority of the work focused on the records of STARPAHC, a telemedicine project jointly operated by NASA and the University that took place on Arizona’s Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation in the 1970s.

The position included full managerial and administrative responsibility for all aspects of the division and its departmental components: administration, archives, public relations, education, exhibits, library, museum, and programs.
